Sironko CM Court Holds DCC Meeting

Sironko CM Court on Thursday held a District Coordination Committee meeting chaired by HW Katugume Fred, Magistrate Grade I who was joined by HW Namankati Annet Magistrate Grade I Bulambuli. 

HW Katugume thanked all stakeholders for the cordial rapport that exists in the magisterial area. 

He informed that on October 2, two-minute extracts were obtained from SironkoDistrict Land board giving Judiciary two pieces of titled land at Mutuufu and Buwalasi for the constitution of courts. 

The issues raised during the meeting included; Issues; failure by the Mbale Remand Home to produce juveniles for trial in the courts within the magisterial area, and delayed prosecution of cases by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA).

It was resolved that the Judiciary should do subdivision and secure titles, UWA team to follow up their cases. The meeting agreed to promote Alternative Dispute Resolution and continuous sensitization of court processes.

The Sironko Resident District Commissioner Mr Denis Ephraim thanked the Judicial Officers for always being present at court. He commended the strides taken to stamp out corruption like the display of the pictogram of all staff at the noticeboard.

In attendance were; the District Vice Chairperson Ms Gimono Lydia, Chief Administrative Officer, District Police Commander, District Internal Security Officer, and representatives from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. The others were; Officer in Charge Mutuufu Prison, Warden Mt Elgon National Park, UWA Prosecutor, Regional Community Service Officer, Justice Centres- Mbale, Justice for Children and the Sironko Electoral Commission Returning Officer.
